Question:
Is drinking wine good for your health?

Answer:
There is a fine line between healthy drinking and risky drinking. More studies are being done on the possible benefits red wine may have and heart disease, however it is still a controversial topic.

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), some evidence exists that people who drink moderately have heart disease less often than nondrinkers. However, having more than two drinks per day has been linked to high blood pressure, cancer, stroke, suicide, obesity, and liver disease. Women should limit alcohol consumption to one drink per day, men to two drinks per day. A drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, 4 ounces of wine, or 1.5 oz. of liquor of 80-proof spirits.. Even light drinking can eventually lead to eventual dependency. Pregnant women need to avoid alcohol consumption altogether. See alcohol and diet.
