Question:
What should be done for a back strain?

Answer:
Rest on a firm surface for several hours. Try to avoid another injury, and don't lift anything heavy. Sit in straight back chairs, and sleep on a firm mattress. Anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) can help, and stretching and strengthening of the back muscles is important. When you lift objects, squat down and use the legs to lift (instead of stooping down) to prevent injuries. See low back pain.
